Rochester and AMD partner to provide ongoing support for Xilinx's legacy FPGAs

Ensuring continued assistance for markets with extended lifecycles

AMD/Xilinx and Rochester Electronics are partnering to provide additional market availability on Xilinx’s legacy FPGAs and associated configuration PROMs.

Since its founding in 1984, Xilinx has established itself as a premier supplier of programmable logic devices, and AMD’s acquisition further expands its presence in the marketplace. Xilinx’s FPGAs are utilized across applications covering industrial, medical, transportation, defense, and aerospace, automotive, consumer, networking, storage, and high-performance computing.

The evolution of programmable logic through semiconductor process-node reductions and package improvements has been a boom for product advancement, but a challenge for long-term stability. Applications with long product development and production lifecycles are strongly supported by Xilinx.

Rochester has recently received 1.1 million units of Spartan 3, Spartan 6, Artix, Virtex 7, and Kintex 7 FPGAs, with most available in high-speed grades, in I or Q grade temperature grades, as well as a number of automotive-qualified versions. Additionally, to support these designs there is a selection of 1 Mb, 2Mb, 4Mb, and 8Mb configuration memories.
