Renesas Electronics MCU/MPU products are highly expandable with a lineup that covers a wide range of memory and package options and are capable of meeting various user needs with combinations of faster speed, higher reliability, lower cost, and eco-performance. Renesas Electronics offers many of the industry’s top solutions with their broad selection of microcontrollers (MCUs) and microprocessors (MPUs) ranging from 8-bit CISC to 32-bit RISC processors. The devices are equipped with an expansive selection of integrated peripherals to satisfy customers’ requirements.


The H8 product line, which includes 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit devices, spans a wide range of performance levels, features, and price options. These upward-code-compatible MCUs offer a complete set of solutions. They range from low-power, low-cost, small-die-size chips for low-end embedded control markets to high-performance and low-power device requirements. The three product lines provide a complete lineup of solutions for low-end applications.


The M16C family of microcontrollers is set up to provide many popular integrated features. The family is built on an architectural platform that offers superior combinations of price and performance, enabling the design of embedded systems that deliver user advantages while meeting tight budgets. M16C devices are particularly well-matched and deliver exceptional benefits in CAN

networks and similar types of applications. The devices’ outstanding EMI/EMS characteristics aid and reinforce CAN communication integrity and enhance system reliability in noisy environments.


With the proven R8C/1x and R8C/2x for low-to-mid-end applications and the enhanced R8C/3x and R8C/Lx series for higher performance solutions, Renesas covers a significant percentage of the 8-bit market needs. R8C/2x devices can operate down to 2.2V while the R8C/3x and R8C/Lx offer a wider range reaching down to 1.8V, while also maintaining support for a 5V power supply. Most devices in these series offer Data Flash as an option and a LIN interface targeted for automotive or industrial control is added to selected devices.


The RX family operates at up to 100MHz and with its 165 DMIPS plus floating-point unit and digital signal processing capabilities is ideal for many 32-bit microcontrollers, digital signal controllers, and digital signal processing applications. The family is also enabled with features ideal for focused application solutions such as WiFi and Motor Control.
