Rochester Offers Exceptional Memory Support for Legacy Applications

Providing extended market supply for parallel NOR Flash memory

Rochester Electronics’ manufacturing enables the continued market supply of parallel NOR Flash memory. Legacy and mature products continue to require these solutions. Through a strategic arrangement, Rochester has purchased wafer for continued production of 4Mb and 8Mb 5-volt NOR Flash.

Flash memory helped revolutionize the electronics industry, and initial devices based on parallel NOR Flash technology became the leading solution for on-board code storage. With inherent reliability and easy access to all memory locations, it has remained a top storage option for decades. At the market peak, Spansion was a primary supplier alongside STMicroelectronics, Micron, Fujitsu, and Macronix. However, as alternatives such as NAND and serial NOR Flash were introduced, demand dwindled, and many suppliers left the market.

Rochester Electronics still sees a market need for parallel NOR Flash and has extensive experience providing continued production for components nearing the end of their lifecycles. We understand this requires more than possessing the wafer and die. In preparation for production, Rochester has the test capabilities needed for production validation. In addition, Rochester is reviewing internal and external resources to ensure an ongoing supply of PLCC-32, TSOP-32, TSOP48, and SOIC-44 packages.

Plans for AM29F400 and AM29F800 are underway, and production will begin in 2025. For announcements about future availability, visit www.rocelec.com or contact our team directly to discuss your needs.
