Renesas’ acquisition of Intersil Corporation in 2017 helped to solidify Renesas as a leading global supplier delivering advanced embedded systems to customers. The acquisition added in a portfolio of strong power management and diverse analog products that have been supporting customers’ designs over several decades.
Rochester Electronics’ partnership with Renesas allows us to provide continuous support on a large selection of Intersil long lifecycle devices. Our stock of 30-Million units is composed of over 10,000-part number options including products from past Intersil acquisitions such as Harris Semiconductor, Elantec, and Xicor. Like all of Rochester’s inventory, it is 100% authorized and guaranteed and to further complement the offering, we provide support on 3,000-part numbers based upon existing wafer/die inventory through our Build-to-Order (BTO) licensed manufacturing capabilities. Thus, we provide extended life to products that otherwise may no longer be available in the market.
Power management products account for a large percentage of Rochester's Intersil inventory. These devices include a selection of many switching regulators, LDOs, voltage monitor and battery management devices, and high-accuracy voltage references. Based on their versatility, these devices are used in a wide spectrum of applications, many of which require long lifecycle commitments or have high-reliability requirements. Key examples of products that continue to see strong interest would be the ISL21009 voltage references, the ISL6227 switching regulators, and the X5323S8I CPU Supervisors.
Analog and mixed signal products are another area where Rochester maintains significant inventory and sees ongoing demand on for legacy products. This covers a variety of amplifiers, multiplexers and switches, and data converters. Many of these have been used in industrial applications with a need for ongoing support of fielded products. A few popular devices in this area would be the DG411, DG412, and DG413 Analog Switches and the LM324N and LM359 OpAmps.
RS232, RS422, and RS485 interface devices also have long-term requirements based on their use in industrial applications. Over time, these devices have experienced technology improvements with reductions in supply voltages, reduced power dissipation, and improved package options. Although these are beneficial, there is often still demand to support existing equipment and a need for older technology devices. In this area, Rochester has a wide selection of both active and obsolete products. Good examples with current inventory are the ICL32xx series and the HIN202 and HIN239 devices.
